Summary
The Department of Paediatric Gastroenterology at The Royal London is seeking to appoint a locum consultant for 12 months to cover maternity leave. The post holder would gain invaluable experience working in one of London’s largest and busiest tertiary Paediatric
Gastroenterology departments, treating children with a wide range of conditions.
The Paediatric Gastroenterology department based at The Royal London Hospital is one of the largest in London, providing full in-patient and out-patient secondary and tertiary service to investigate and treat a multitude of gastrointestinal disorders. We have a dedicated 12 bedded ward for inpatients. Endoscopy occurs in a dedicated unit with nursing and anaesthetic support from paediatric theatres and adult Endoscopy
The multidisciplinary team includes 5 consultants. Prof Nick Croft (head of research), Dr. Ahmed Kadir (clinical lead), Dr. Sandhia Naik, Dr. Protima Deb, Dr. Dan Crespi and Dr. Roxana Mardare, 5 trainees ( 1 GRID, 1 reg with special interest in gastro and 3 ST2 -3 ), 2 Intestinal Failure Nurses , 2 IBD Nurses , 1 Enteral Nutrition Nurse , 1 full time dietician and 3 part time dietitians and a Parenteral Nutrition (PN) Pharmacist.
The post holder will be expected to provide high quality, expert care for all children and adolescents with GI/Nutritional or Hepatological conditions, both acute and chronic. They will become an integral part of the Paediatric Gastroenterology service at The Royal London Hospital and provide both local care for the patients of Tower Hamlets plus tertiary care for patients across North East London and West Essex. They will provide leadership for the wider MDT and help guide service development and growth to address the needs of their patients. The service is also a recognised teaching department and the post holder will be expected to actively participate in teaching junior staff.
