Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague to join our dynamic service within Barts Health NHS Trust. This reflects one replacement post based at Newham University Hospital for a maximum of 6 PAs (programmed activities) for one year, with an expectation that the role will be advertised as a substantive post at the end of this period. Although this position is a 12 months fixed-term contract, the actual contract duration may be adjusted to account for the time taken to advertise the post, complete the hiring process, and finalise pre-employment checks, making the final contract slightly shorter than 12 months.

Newham University Hospital (NUH) is a district general hospital with a major undergraduate teaching role, serving one of the youngest and most ethnically diverse populations in the UK. The hospital serves a multicultural population of 355 000 with an average age of 32 years and a high prevalence of diabetes (8.5%). The service benefits from a purpose built diabetes centre located in East Ham with diabetes outpatient facilities co located with the community Type 2 Diabetes Specialist Nurse service provided by the East London Foundation Trust and onsite podiatry and X ray.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the award winning Diabetes and Endocrinology team at a time of significant investment and service expansion. The post includes general medicine, endocrinology and diabetes management in the inpatient and outpatient setting. The exact job plan may be tailored to the interests and experience of the successful candidate with opportunities to join one or more of the following services:

We are seeking a consultant colleague with an interest in Type 1 Diabetes and Young Adult Diabetes to join the team which includes Consultants, diabetes specialist nurses, dedicated type 1 diabetes dieticians and a diabetes psychiatrist.
