Summary
This is an exciting new opportunity for a Biomedical Scientist to join our Haematology and Blood Transfusion department.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and proactive individual to join our department as an HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist, with experience in working in an NHS diagnostic laboratory.
This role is part of the team of BMS providing the 24/7 service within the Haematology and Blood Transfusion department.
The ideal candidate will be a quick learner and good team player and someone with aspirations of developing their biomedical scientist career in a Haematology and Blood Transfusion disciplinary setting.
The post holder will join our team of BMS staff and following all the appropriate training, will be expected to participate in the 24/7 haematology and Blood Transfusion services provision.

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
As HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist your main duties will include, but not limited to:
• Perform and interpret routine biomedical investigations by participating in regular daily workloads, as directed by management, in line with your skills, experience, and competencies.
• Maintain standards of conduct required by the HCPC to practice as a registered Biomedical Scientist.
• Process specimens and handle sensitive information with care and due diligence, such as patient results, in line with local Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Support BMAs by ensuring performance is in line with laboratory standards.
• Ensure compliance with all legislative and quality requirements of regulatory directives, accreditation bodies, and local management, including UKAS and MHRA and SOPs.
• Participate in quality management activities, including inspections, audits, and incident reporting as required.
• Utilise the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), Q-Pulse quality management database, and other relevant software to ensure high-quality, reliable data capture and entry.

• The role is based in haematology and blood transfusion at GEH they will be an expectation to rotate to other sites when required.
• The role involves issue of high quality blood results for haematology, blood transfusion and coagulation. It will also involve reporting films and being competent in morphology.
• This role also involves issue safely blood products to patients. It will involve ensuring haematology and blood transfusion quality management systems are maintained. Staff will be expected to carry out audits.
