As a Detention Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining public safety and ensuring the well-being of detainees within our custody suites. This is an opportunity to work alongside committed professionals and become part of the Cleveland Police family.
What You’ll Do
• Supervise and ensure the safety and security of detainees in Cleveland Police’s custody suites.
• Work across the custody estate, primarily at Middlesbrough Custody Suite, with occasional duties at Hartlepool Resilience Suite during peak demand.
• Support the Custody Officer from arrival to departure of detainees, including administrative tasks.
• Assist in managing and processing detainees in line with:
o Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE)
o Terrorism Act
o Crime (Sentences) Act
o Authorised Professional Practice (APP)

• Flexibility to meet the demands of the role.
• Commitment to completing mandatory Personal Safety Training and First Aid Training upon appointment.
• Willingness to be trained in the use of a defibrillator.

This is a permanent, full-time post with a weekly average of 37 hours, working part of a 24 hour rotating shift pattern. The suite is open 24/7 365 days a year including bank holidays to provide a critical service to the organisation.
