Summary
This is a full-time fixed-term position until 2nd September 2026, working in our Paediatric and Neonatal units. Part-time applications will be considered.
The MKUH Paediatrics Department is progressive with multiple subspecialties represented.
We have subspeciality interests in Neonatology, Cardiology, Allergy, Oncology, Asthma, Cystic Fibrosis, Rheumatology, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Haemoglobinopathies, Infectious Diseases, Nephrology and Eating Disorders.
Our Neonatal Unit is designated a Level 2 Unit (Local Neonatal Unit). We care for babies from 27 weeks of gestation, >800g birth weight and can offer short-term ventilation up to 48 hours. In addition, we can initiate nitric oxide and therapeutic hypothermia treatment whilst awaiting transfer to a tertiary centre.
Our Paediatric Wards have Level One High Dependency beds. We are a Level One POSCU (Paediatric Oncology Shared Clinical Unit). In addition, we have a Paediatric Day Surgical Unit and Paediatric Day Care Service.
The successful candidate will join a friendly and forward-thinking team providing evidence-based care for all our patients. We welcome applications from all interested individuals.
To provide, with colleagues, general paediatric and neonatal services for the prevention, diagnosis and management of illness and the proper functioning of the department.
To participate in the rolling rota, which is outlined in the job plan, including long days and night shifts.
Departmental teaching is held weekly, and all doctors are encouraged to be an active contributor to the teaching program as well as research, audit participation and appraisal.
The post holder must maintain continuing professional development and will be encouraged to attend relevant professional courses and meetings.
