Summary
Academic context
The successful applicant will join the Applied Mathematics Group, which provides a strong research environment in high-energy physics, gravity, string theory, and holography. Members include Nils Andersson, Leor Barack, Oscar Dias, Carsten Gundlach, Ian Hawke, Ian Jones, Carlos Lobo, Adam Pound, Andreas Schmitt, Kostas Skenderis. The Research Fellow will also be a member of the STAG Research Centre, which encompasses scientists from Maths and Physics at the interface of string theory, quantum field theory, gravity and astrophysics.
Applicants’ profile
Applicants should have a track record of theoretical research in Quantum Chromodynamics or related areas. The project aims at the study of phases at nonzero baryon densities and their applications to the physics of neutron stars, in particular anisotropic phases in a magnetic field. Experience in applications of the gauge-gravity duality is desirable, but not necessary.
The successful applicant should have a PhD (or be close to completing a PhD) in physics or a related discipline, or an equivalent qualification.
