We’re looking for a Business Development Manager to help drive sales growth and raise the profile of the Lords brand across the
Bicester area.
This is a hands-on, commercially focused role for someone who knows the merchanting world, enjoys being out with customers, and
can turn local opportunity into long-term business. Reporting to the Branch Manager, you’ll focus on winning new business,
developing existing accounts, and increasing sales and margin.
What you’ll be doing:
* Actively promote the Lords brand, service, and product range to new and existing customers
* Identify and develop new business opportunities in the local market
* Build strong, long-term relationships through regular customer and site visits
* Support branch sales through pricing, quotations, telesales, and order processing when required
* Work closely with suppliers and buyers on pricing, stock selection, and new product opportunities
* Support local marketing activity across all sales channels
* Maintain excellent customer service and operate in line with company policies and Health & Safety standards
This is a varied role combining field-based business development with practical in-branch commercial support.
What we’re looking for:
* Proven experience in business development or sales within a builders merchant
* Strong local market knowledge and a proactive, relationship-led approach
* Confidence dealing with contractors, developers, and trade customers
* Excellent communication and influencing skills
* A team-focused mindset and strong commercial awareness
* Good IT skills and willingness to adapt and learn
