Our Team
The Public Transport team sits within the Integrated Passenger Transport Service and provides tendered bus services to complement North Yorkshire’s network of commercially operated bus routes. We work in partnership with commercial bus companies and community transport operators as well as colleagues in neighbouring councils. The team also provides public transport information and manages our bus stop infrastructure and customer facing information provision.
The Role
As a Technical Assistant you will:
Use IT systems to gather, collate and analyse bus fare, bus loadings and bus reliability data
Work with colleagues to secure transport arrangements with transport operators
Coordinate the installation, maintenance and information provision for bus stops, shelters and bus interchanges
Assess how temporary road closures will affect transport contracts and local bus services
Liaise with customers, colleagues, bus operators and other key partners regarding activities carried out by the public transport team.
Hybrid working is available for this position with a minimum of 2 days in the Northallerton office per week.

Have an awareness of passenger transport legislation
Have strong analytical skills
Be an excellent communicator
Have good decision-making skills
Be able to prioritise and organise their own workload as well as being able to work well within a busy team environment.
