Summary

Cost Controller – Nuclear New Build Project

Contract Type: PAYE (Inside IR35)
Salary: Starting range from £60,000 per annum
Duration: Minimum 2 years, likely extending up to 5 years
Start Date: ASAP
Working Pattern: Full-time, site-based, day shifts

The Role We are currently seeking an experienced Cost Controller to join a major nuclear new build project. This is a long-term opportunity on one of the UK’s most high-profile infrastructure projects, offering excellent stability and the chance to be part of a programme that will run for several years. The successful candidate will be fully site-based and will play a key role in cost management, forecasting, and financial control across designated work packages.

Key Responsibilities:

- Monitor, control and report project costs in line with budgets and forecasts
- Produce accurate cost reports, cash flow forecasts and variance analysis
- Support the preparation of monthly cost reports and management information
- Work closely with project managers, engineers and commercial teams to ensure cost discipline is maintained
- Track commitments, accruals and actuals against budget
- Assist with change control, trends and risk/opportunity management
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, procedures and nuclear governance requirements
- Contribute to continuous improvement of cost control processes and reporting

Essential Requirements:

- Proven experience in a Cost Controller / Cost Engineer / Project Controls role
- Background in major infrastructure, energy, nuclear, oil & gas, or similarly regulated environments
- Strong understanding of cost control, forecasting and reporting
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a site-based, delivery-focused environment
- Strong Excel and reporting skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within large, multi-disciplinary teams

Desirable Experience

- Experience on nuclear or large-scale EPC projects
- Knowledge of earned value management (EVM)
- Familiarity with project controls systems and tools (e.g. SAP, Primavera P6, etc.)
- Experience working within highly regulated environments
