Are you an experienced onboarding, vetting or screening professional with a passion for compliance, people leadership and continuous improvement?
We’re looking for a Vetting & Onboarding Team Manager to lead the delivery of screening and vetting services within Serco’s Vetting & Onboarding (VOB) function. This is a critical role ensuring that our people are screened efficiently, compliantly and consistently across the business supporting contracts that deliver essential public services.
Reporting to the VOB Operations Manager, you’ll lead a team of Administrators and Specialists, act as a subject matter expert for vetting processes, and play a key role in shaping and improving how vetting and onboarding services are delivered.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading the delivery of all Onboarding across Serco UK, including Right to Work, Visa Expiry and contract queries ensuring compliance with legislative and Serco requirements
- Managing and developing a team of 5–10 Administrators/Specialists, providing coaching, training, feedback and performance management
- Overseeing system configuration, maintenance and change management across vetting platforms including SAP, ServiceNow, Access Screening, DocuSign and People First
- Driving process improvement and quality assurance, including audits, reporting and continuous improvement activity
- Acting as the primary Vetting & Screening contact for key internal and external stakeholders
- Building strong working relationships with partners such as UK Security Vetting , MOJ Vetting, Home Office, Access Screening and Serco’s Security Managers
- Managing complaints and service issues, ensuring timely resolution and preventative actions
- Leading Right to Work, employment checks and data migration activity for TUPE transfers and new acquisitions
- Supporting the integration of new contracts and sites into existing Vetting & Onboarding processes
What you’ll bring
- Strong working knowledge of vetting, screening and onboarding processes, particularly right to work and visa legislation, with a clear understanding of compliance requirements
- Experience leading teams in a transactional, regulated or compliance-led environment
- Confidence working with systems such as SAP, ServiceNow, Access Screening, UKSV Portal, OpenText and Occupational Health platforms
- Proven ability to coach, train and develop others
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Experience applying performance management and continuous improvement approaches
