Summary
Receptionist/Administrator to join our friendly team. This role combines high-quality front-line reception duties with key administrative responsibilities, including clinical coding of correspondence and management of electronic referrals. You will play a vital part in supporting patient care, ensuring efficient practice operations, and maintaining accurate records in line with NHS standards. Main Duties and Responsibilities Act as the first point of contact for patients: warmly greet visitors, handle face-to-face and telephone enquiries, book/cancel/amend appointments, and manage patient flow in a calm, professional manner. Process and accuratelycode incoming clinical letters, hospital correspondence, test results, and other documents (using Read/SNOMED codes) into the patient record on the clinical system (e.g., EMIS, SystmOne, or Vision). Manageelectronic referralsvia the NHS e-Referral Service (e-RS), including creating, attaching supporting information, tracking progress, and ensuring timely processing for 2-week waits and routine referrals. Handle other referral types (e.g., community services, secondary care) and liaise with external agencies as needed. Undertake general administrative tasks: scanning and filing documents, updating patient records, processing repeat prescription requests, registering new patients, and supporting the clinical team with ad-hoc duties. Maintain strict confidentiality, comply with GDPR, data protection, and practice policies at all times. Assist with patient signposting to appropriate services, promote online tools (e.g., NHS App), and contribute to practice targets (e.g., QOF where relevant). Participate in team meetings, undertake mandatory training, and cover additional duties as required to support the smooth running of the practice
