Summary

Kitchen Assistant – Nursery Setting
We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant who is dedicated to supporting our nursery team and ensuring
that every mealtime is a positive, safe, and enjoyable experience for our children.
Key Responsibilities
 Serve ready-cooked meals to children, following portion and presentation guidelines.
 Prepare simple meals such as sandwiches and salads.
 Adhere to all food hygiene and safety legislation, maintaining a professional standard at all
times.
 Follow procedures for food allergies, intolerances, and special dietary requirements.
 Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen and pantry.
 Manage and record kitchen safety checks, including fridge and freezer temperatures.
 Rotate stock, put away deliveries, and monitor expiry dates.
 Support infection control by following cleaning schedules and hygiene procedures.
 Dispose of waste safely and responsibly.
 Report any faults or maintenance issues promptly.
 Attend mandatory training such as Food Hygiene, Health and Safety, and Infection Control.
 Experience of working in a professional food establishment for example, school, nursery,
café, or catering setting.
 Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2) or equivalent qualification – essential.
 Good understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
 Awareness of children’s allergies and dietary needs.
 Reliable, organised, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
 Friendly, caring, and committed to supporting children’s health and wellbeing.
 Willing to undertake cleaning and housekeeping duties as part of the role.

Hours of Work: 9.30-1.30 Monday to Friday - Hours can be negotiated
