SALARY: £34,610 to £39,906 per annum FTE / £19,382 to £22,347 Actual per annum
LOCATION: Glasgow, Scotland – with some travel required to conduct interviews
JOB TYPE: Part-Time, 9 Month Fixed Term Contract (until 31st November 2026)
WORKING HOURS: 21 Hours per Week (working days to be discussed during interview)
JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Qualitative Research Assistant to support the qualitative evaluation of a programme delivering support to people who use substances across several Emergency Departments in the West of Scotland.
As a Qualitative Research Assistant you will play a key role in planning and delivering interviews and focus groups, analysing qualitative data and producing a comprehensive evaluation report for the project funder, alongside potential academic outputs.
The Qualitative Research Assistant will work under academic supervision while managing day-to-day research activities independently, contributing to evidence-based practice within a sensitive and impactful subject area.

DUTIES
Your duties as the Qualitative Research Assistant include:
• Qualitative Data Collection: Planning and conducting interviews and focus groups with stakeholders and service users
• Ethical Governance: Supporting applications for ethical approval and ensuring compliance throughout the research process
• Data Analysis: Analysing qualitative data using appropriate methodological frameworks
• Evaluation Reporting: Synthesising findings into clear, accessible reports for a wide audience
• Academic Outputs: Contributing to academic papers, presentations and dissemination activities
• Project Planning: Managing research tasks, timelines and priorities to meet agreed deadlines
• Stakeholder Engagement: Liaising with internal teams, external partners and collaborators
• Fieldwork Support: Travelling to project sites to support qualitative research activities
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
• SCQF Level 10 (Honours degree) or equivalent in a relevant subject
• Experience of qualitative research methods and qualitative data analysis
• Previous experience conducting interviews and/or focus groups
• Experience of scientific or academic writing
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality outputs to deadlines
• Right to live and work in the United Kingdom
DESIRABLE
• Masters’ degree in qualitative methodology or a related discipline
• A strong understanding of the wider subject area or research specialism
• Experience contributing to research evaluations or funded projects
