As a Senior Project Lead in our Justice and Immigration (J&I) team, you’ll lead and deliver complex programmes and projects that shape the future of custodial and immigration services as part of the Mobilisation, Transition and Transformation team. Your work will have a positive impact on communities and society by ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality transitions and transformations across our contracts.
You’ll play a pivotal role in driving strategic transformation programmes, managing mission-critical relationships, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. This is a role where your expertise will help create impactful solutions and enable a better future for those we serve.

What you’ll do as a Senior Project Lead You’ll be entrusted to:
- Lead and direct projects across the full lifecycle in line with Serco’s project methodology
- Drive performance to achieve specified outputs and overall business case objectives
- Manage all programme and project inputs into the bidding process, ensuring compliance with governance and reporting
- Actively use project controls (plans, governance, RAID, etc.) to deliver predictable outcomes
- Identify and manage stakeholders, co-managing senior relationships with the Senior Responsible Owner (SRO)
- Develop robust mobilisation and transition plans for proposed service solutions
- Use knowledge of the operating environment and associated experience to operationalise project deliverables, taking forward lessons learned into future projects

- Experience of full lifecycle project delivery in a complex operating environment
- Knowledge of project and programme management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2 or equivalent)
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to drive clarity from ambiguity and manage multiple demands under pressure
- A recognised project management qualification or equivalent experience

Vetting and checks: This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, depending on the nature of the role, you may need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
