Shrewsbury School is set in approximately 110 acres of beautiful grounds overlooking the River Severn. There are 10 grass pitches which cater for the school’s highly competitive sports teams and our Grounds team are responsible for maintaining the pitches to a very high standard.
We are recruiting a Grounds Person into this team to help and support the very highest standard in maintaining our playing fields and grounds.
Ideally the successful candidate will:
Have a good standard of education, ideally with a sports turf qualification or willingness to work towards one.
Have a spraying certificate (NPTC PA1, PA6 or PA2) would be desirable.
Be familiar with using grounds maintenance equipment.
Have experience of working in a similar role, this would be an advantage.
Have a driving licence.
Have a minimum of 2 seasons of sports turf related experience, although not essential.
Have a flexible approach and must be willing to work overtime on a rota basis.
Essentially be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and the ability to cope with physically demanding work.
This is a full-time position working 39 hours per week, Monday to Thursday from 8.00am to 4.30pm, and Friday from 8.00am to 3.30pm, with a half an hour lunch break. The successful candidate will also be required to work some evenings and weekends on a rota basis, which is paid as overtime.
