Job description
As a Senior Enterprise Architect, you will play a pivotal role in shaping HMRC’s technology direction. You’ll create and evolve strategic roadmaps, influence policy, and ensure architectural decisions align with organisational goals. Your work will directly impact HMRC’s ability to deliver secure, scalable, and innovative solutions for colleagues and customers.
What You’ll Do:
Develop and maintain the overarching Borders & Trade IT architecture strategy.
Create and govern reference architectures to guide technology decisions.
Collaborate with senior business and technology stakeholders to align architecture with strategic objectives.
Support solution design and ensure technology investments deliver maximum value.
Drive innovation and continuous improvement across a diverse and complex IT environment.
Influence policy and set technical direction for HMRC’s Enterprise Operations estate.
Understand commercial processes and different sourcing strategies.

As a member of the Borders and Trade Platform team this role is specifically responsible for the IT strategy and architecture of:
Imports, Exports and Transit across UK borders and through the UK.
UK Excise and Environmental taxes.
