Summary

About the Devonshire Group The Devonshire Group comprises the Devonshire family interests, charities and businesses throughout the UK and Ireland, including Chatsworth in Derbyshire, the Bolton Abbey Estate in North Yorkshire, the Lismore Estate in County Waterford, and the Compton Estate in Sussex. Across our estates and businesses, we operate visitor attractions, shops, restaurants and luxury accommodation, alongside tenanted residential and commercial property, farming and forestry enterprises, and a significant property development pipeline. We employ around 1,400 colleagues across more than 65,000 acres. We are committed to benefitting heritage, people and a shared future, preserving and enhancing our heritage assets, supporting our communities, and leading by example in how we do things. About the role We’re looking for a Security Architect & Infrastructure Lead to play a critical role in safeguarding and strengthening the Group’s core technology environment. This is a senior, hands-on role responsible for ensuring our infrastructure is resilient, secure and capable of supporting reliable day-to-day operations across the Group. You’ll lead the design, implementation and ongoing management of our networks, servers, identity platforms and security controls, while shaping a strong cyber security posture and robust business continuity arrangements. Working closely with colleagues across IT and the wider business, you’ll ensure that stability, performance, access and security are embedded into everything we do. What you’ll be doing: Lead the design, delivery and ongoing management of secure, resilient Group infrastructure, including networks, servers, identity and endpoint platforms. Act as the technical authority for cyber security, embedding secure-by-design principles and maintaining strong security controls across the technology estate. Ensure operational resilience through effective performance monitoring, lifecycle management, and robust business continuity and disaster recovery arrangements. Secure and manage Microsoft 365 and cloud identity services, ensuring compliant access, device management and cloud configuration. Maintain compliance with regulatory and cyber security standards, supported by clear technical documentation and collaboration across the IT team. This is a full-time role working 5-days a week from either the Chatsworth Estate Office, near Edensor, Derbyshire or from Bolton Abbey, near Skipton, Yorkshire (with one day at least working from the Derbyshire office), depending on your location. Hybrid working will be available with flexibility to meet business needs. There will be some travel to other Devonshire Group locations. What we’re looking for: You’ll bring strong technical expertise across infrastructure and cyber security, with hands-on experience designing, implementing and supporting secure, resilient environments. You’ll have deep knowledge of networks, firewalls, servers, virtualisation, identity and endpoint security, alongside a solid understanding of modern cyber security principles, risk management and recognised frameworks such as NIST or ISO27001. Experience with Microsoft cloud technologies, business continuity and disaster recovery planning, and operating in multi-site environments will be key. Equally important is your people-focused approach. You’ll be an excellent problem solver and communicator, able to engage colleagues with varying levels of technical confidence and lead the resolution of complex issues. You’ll bring experience of mentoring or managing others, strong organisational skills, and a proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement. Relevant certifications are desirable but not essential, and you’ll have a degree or equivalent experience in an IT-related discipline, with flexibility to meet business needs. Why join us? You’ll join a supportive and friendly IT team within a values-led organisation that genuinely cares about its people. You’ll play a key role in helping the IT function operate effectively and professionally across a diverse, multi-site organisation. We offer a range of benefits including a wellbeing calendar of events, an onsite gym and swimming pool, and an Estate Pass providing free access to Chatsworth for you and your guests, plus discounts across Devonshire Group hotels, shops and restaurants. Details of our employee benefits can be found here: https://devonshiregroup.co.uk/work-with-us/working-at-the-devonshire-group/ Our core values include “Being Inclusive” and we particularly welcome applications from disabled and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates who are currently under-represented. We also welcome applicants from the LGBTQ+ community. Flexible ways of working will always be considered. Successful candidates will be invited to attend a 2-stage selection process.
