Summary
Lead a service that is patient centred as well as establishing a supportive relationship with patients, ensuring their rights, dignity and confidentiality are protected at all times. Support the multidisciplinary team in line with Trust and the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) standards and ensure government initiatives are embedded in the service. Support and enable patients to make informed decisions relating to their treatment and management. Instigate and adjust treatments within set guidelines. To undertake management and support of complex treatment options to ensure best care. Manage nurse led clinics and baseline assessments, formulating clinical management plans. To undertake specialist investigations, interpret results and initiate appropriate action and to participate in Multidisciplinary clinics. Utilise all local and national information and ICT systems to secure accurate and timely resource data. Contribute to the achievement of corporate objectives, acting within local, Trust and statutory guidelines and policies at all times. Have highly developed communication skills enabling maintenance of a high quality service within a complex and challenging environment with often, conflicting targets. Demonstrate responsibility and acceptance for the provision of a high quality professional service, promoting best practice and implementing a review process that looks at quality and efficiency to meet the needs of patients and service. Act as a resource for staff, advising on national, local and Trust policy and procedures/guidelines, ensuring that clinical governance is embedded in practice. Effectively communicate information regarding clinical decisions, policy and care pathways to patients and the multi-professional team. Be a skilled practitioner and clinical leader providing support to the management team, leading and participating in service/policy development. Support patients and others during difficult situations arising in the clinical area e.g. imparting bad news or following an unexpected event.
