Summary

Overall purpose of role: To provide an advanced level of leadership and advice in the field of Prevent and Channel Panels and processes to Council leaders, politicians, and partners and use substantial expertise to: Play a vital role in safeguarding individuals at risk of radicalisation under the UK governments Prevent Strategy. Represent the Council by acting as Chair of Channel for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. This involves leading important discussions and negotiations, and steering desired outcomes via the agreement of actions, strategic priorities, and working arrangements with partner organisations, agencies, and external bodies. Hold and manage an oversight of cases that are referred and open to the Channel process and sub channel arena and hold partners to account through these processes, making appropriate recommendations and decisions, and providing detailed advice and guidance through these forums to protect individuals at risk of being radicalised. Lead and support the development of local frameworks, plans, strategies, and best practice standards. Undertake work associated with new initiatives, changing governing requirements, and service development projects.
