Your new company

An established and fast‑growing organisation within the vehicle leasing and mobility sector is creating a brand‑new Head of Legal position. Operating in a complex, regulated environment and backed by a major international group, the business is expanding its UK presence and now seeks an experienced legal professional to build and lead its UK legal function. This is a rare opportunity to join at a pivotal moment and play a key role in shaping the organisation's strategic direction.

Your new role

As Head of Legal, you will establish and lead the legal function for the UK business, acting as the primary legal adviser to senior leadership while collaborating closely with colleagues across Europe. You will oversee all UK legal matters, ensuring the organisation operates in full compliance with applicable laws, FCA regulations and internal policies. Your work will span a wide range of corporate, commercial, compliance and litigation matters. A significant part of the role will involve drafting, negotiating and finalising B2B contracts, including commercial agreements, finance‑related contracts, ICT/cloud and software agreements, digital and data management arrangements, insurance partnerships, supplier contracts and agreements supporting new business development.

You will also provide guidance on UK corporate governance, light company secretarial duties and regulatory compliance. Working closely with commercial and compliance teams, you will deliver pragmatic, commercially focused advice-often within tight deadlines.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Qualification as a barrister or solicitor (an English legal qualification is advantageous).
  • At least five years' experience in an international environment, either in‑house or within a top‑tier law firm. Experience in either motor finance or leasing or even motor generally would be an advantage but is not essential.
  • Strong contract drafting skills and experience handling a broad range of commercial agreements.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, high‑performance environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across commercial and international teams.
  • A pragmatic, open‑minded and commercially driven approach.
  • High ethical standards, integrity and a team‑oriented mindset.

What you'll get in return

This is a unique opportunity to build a legal function from the ground up within a major international group. You will join the UK leadership team, influence strategic decision‑making and work on complex, high‑value matters that shape the future of the organisation. The role offers hybrid working and the chance to make a lasting impact in a growing, forward‑thinking business.
