Summary
As a Health Support worker, you will be expected to work with patients, carers and Multi-Disciplinary Team to provide care to people with mental health needs. The successful candidate will be positive and enthusiastic in your approach, calm and confident when dealing with the needs of the service users. You will have excellent communication skills, and will show that you have the ability to form and sustain therapeutic relationships with people with mental health needs. The successful candidate will: have good verbal communication skills and an excellent understanding of how to build rapport with patients, carers and others as required understand the possible barriers in building a good, effective, professional, empathic relationship with patients, and to be aware of strategies to help improve communications and relationships act as a positive role model showing professional and caring attitudes and behaviour towards other multidisciplinary team members, patients and carers. have experience of working with a range of patients with complex mental health needs and have an understanding of how mental unwellness can effect a person ability to cope and function. be patient focused/person centred in your approach. encourage patients to be involved in all aspects of their care build therapeutic relationships with patients and engage in activities with patients. You will be able to demonstrate genuine interest in mental health and be committed to involving service users in all aspects of their care. The role requires candidates to support the care, assessments, interventions and activities for service users. We are committed to improving service provision and actively engage all staff in developing services. The successful candidates will be encouraged to develop creative ideas that support service users and the service as a whole. You will have the energy to work hard in a very active and busy inpatient care environment.
