Part Time Variable Hours Tutor of Finance (AAT) Hours: Part time variableHourly rate: £26.51 (unqualified)* or £27.68 (qualified)* inclusive of holiday pay.Plus, membership of Teachers’ Pension Scheme*the base hourly rate is £17.10 (unqualified) / £17.86 (qualified) per hour, plus payment for holiday and preparation and marking time, which gives an approximate hourly rate of £26.51(unqualified) / £27.68 (qualified) per hour. About the roleYork College are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Tutor to deliver the AAT Level 2 Accounts/Finance Assistant apprenticeship. In this role, you’ll support apprentices to build strong foundations in accounting while developing the practical skills and professional behaviours needed for real finance roles.You’ll plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned to the AAT standard, helping learners understand bookkeeping, costing, and the business environment. You’ll track progress, provide clear feedback, and prepare apprentices for their End-Point Assessment, ensuring they feel confident and workplace-ready.Working closely with employers, you’ll help apprentices apply their learning on the job and build high-quality evidence for assessment. You’ll also maintain accurate learner records and contribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement.If you have strong accounting knowledge, AAT or equivalent experience, and a passion for helping learners succeed, this is a great opportunity to make a real impact in the early careers finance space.About the PersonThe successful candidate will ideally hold a recognised teaching qualification alongside relevant professional accounting qualifications, such as AAT, and/or significant industry experience. You will bring strong subject knowledge in accounting and finance, with the credibility and confidence to deliver high-quality, industry-aligned learning.You will have experience teaching, tutoring, or training learners within accounting, apprenticeships, or vocational programmes. You’ll be able to simplify complex accounting concepts, build learner confidence, and support apprentices through EPA preparation and portfolio development.
