An exciting opportunity has arisen for a candidate interested in a substantive consultant radiologist post to join our team at Barking Havering, and Redbridge University Hospital Trust.

The successful candidate will be part of the radiology team at Queens and King George Hospitals.

Each consultant will have an office space, secretarial provision, access to a PACS reporting station, a PC and in addition a reporting workstation for remote access to images for on-call purposes and work from home.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a consultant radiologist to join our team at Barking, Havering, and Redbridge University Hospital Trust.

The advertised post is primarily to support interventional neuroradiology. The successful applicant should have completed training in diagnostic radiology and fellowship in in interventional neuroradiology and experience in relevant subspecialty is preferred.

This is a new substantive post and has arisen primary to cover our interventional neuroradiology services and as a part of transformation and expansion.

The Radiology Directorate is currently reconfiguring its consultant team to provide as much specialist, high quality, timely and efficient service as possible.

Consultant Interventional and Diagnostic Neuroradiologist

The post is designed to share the responsibility for the provision of comprehensive interventional and diagnostic neuroradiology services including the provision of neurovascular clinics and MDTs..

The successful candidate is expected to support Radiology department primarily in the following areas:

· Neuro Interventional procedures

· Mechanical Thrombectomy Service (MT)

· Weekend MT and coiling service

· MDTs

· Clinics

· On call

· Cross-sectional neuroradiology reporting

· Work cross site KGH and QH

It is desirable that the candidate has experience with advanced imaging modalities such as Perfusion, Spectroscopy, Functional MRI to expand the service as we have recently acquired a 3T MRI with all the facilities.

Contribution to the vetting cross-sectional scans, interventional procedures and solving queries from clinical and radiology teams is mandatory.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

To adhere to the appropriate clinical and quality standards, liaise effectively and on a timely basis with colleagues, general practitioners, community services and all healthcare agencies and maintain and promote team and multi-disciplinary working.

To participate in the development, organization, and management of radiology services

To attend and participate in departmental governance meetings including investigations of incidents and audits where necessary.

To attend and participate in operational and clinical meetings where these are deemed essential to the running of the department and/or service.

To acquire and maintain the required level of evidence-based practice within your area of special interest.

To comply with all the trust and departmental policies in relation to job planning, appraisal, and leave.

To deputize for an absent consultant or associate specialist colleague on occasions where this is necessary to complete core services in a timely manner.

Ensure prompt attendance at agreed direct clinical care programmed activities.

Ensure mandatory training is up to date as per the trust policy.

TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES:

We have 2 trainees from London deanery and 1 trainee from East of England at one time. At a time, there will be 1-2 trainees for neuroradiology rotation. We also have MTI fellows. It is expected that the candidate will support the trainees in their neuroradiology rotation with teaching and supervised reporting. A teaching experience and supervisor skills training is desirable.

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management experience if any is desirable. There is no specific management responsibility for this role but candidate will be expected to share responsibility for investigating incidents etc related to neuroradiology. It is also expected that the candidate participates in quality assurance projects to improve the service.
