✏️ Autism Support Assistant - Full Time
Location: Tameside
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Pay Rate: From £102 per day
Contract: January 2026
Are you a compassionate and patient SEN Teaching Assistant who's passionate about supporting children with autism? We're looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic, and understanding individual to join a specialist unit within a mainstream primary school in the Tameside area
About the Role:
You'll be working with pupils who have a range of additional learning needs, helping them access the curriculum, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a nurturing, inclusive environment, supported by a friendly and experienced team of educators.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of SEN (including autism, ADHD, and communication needs)
• Assist with classroom activities, tailored learning, and intervention sessions
• Collaborate closely with teachers and the SENCo to implement support plans
• Encourage and promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and independence
• Follow safeguarding, behaviour management, and school policies at all times
Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a SEN TA or supporting children with special educational needs ideally Autism
• A calm, nurturing, and proactive approach to supporting children's learning and development
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• An Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
• Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 TA, SEN, or equivalent) - desirable but not essential
