A supportive and forward-thinking school in Oldham is seeking an experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant to work across Key Stages 1 and 2.
This role is ideal for someone confident supporting pupils with a wide range of special educational needs within a school environment.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing targeted support to pupils 1:1 and in small groups
Using effective strategies to help learners with speech, language and communication needs, including pupils who are non-verbal.
Supporting children and young people with autism, sensory differences and social communication challenges.
Managing and responding to challenging behaviour linked to SEMH needs, using a calm and consistent approach.
Working collaboratively with teachers and SENCOs to adapt tasks, remove barriers to learning and promote inclusion.
Encouraging pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive engagement in the classroom.
What We Need From You
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience supporting SEND pupils in a school setting (essential)
Strong understanding of autism, communication needs and behaviour support strategies
Patience, empathy and the ability to build strong rapport with pupils
A resilient, proactive approach and a genuine passion for helping children succeed
Confidence supporting a range of ages from KS1 & KS2
