Teaching Assistant - Autism & SEND Support (Full-Time)
Location: Newark, Nottinghamshire (NG24)
Pay: £90 - £105 per day
Contract: Temporary to Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm (Term-Time Only)
Start Date: Immediate Start
We are recruiting a full-time Teaching Assistant to provide autism and SEND support within a specialist school in Newark, Nottinghamshire (NG24). This Teaching Assistant role is ideal for someone with experience supporting children with autism in a structured school environment and is available immediately.
The school supports pupils aged 5-16 with autism and additional needs, offering personalised education plans in a calm, supportive and consistent setting. This is an excellent opportunity for a Teaching Assistant looking for a long-term role with the potential to become permanent.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism and SEND
* Support learning across the curriculum following individual education plans
* Promote engagement, communication and positive behaviour
* Assist pupils during transitions and help reduce anxiety
* Work closely with teachers and SEN staff to deliver tailored lessons
* Maintain a safe, inclusive and structured classroom environment
Requirements
* Recent experience working as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant in a UK school
* Relevant qualification such as CACHE Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent)
* Strong understanding of autism and SEND strategies
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Calm, patient and consistent approach to behaviour and learning support
Desirable Experience
* Supporting non-verbal pupils or learners using AAC
* Knowledge of Makaton, PECS or sensory-based approaches
* Experience in a specialist SEND or autism school
