The Opportunity:
Long Term Futures are seeking a compassionate and proactive Family Support Worker to support children, young people, and their families across both primary and secondary phases in Hackney. This vital role focuses on removing barriers to learning, improving attendance, supporting behavioural and emotional needs, and strengthening home-school relationships. You will play a key part in ensuring pupils feel safe, supported, and able to engage positively in their education.
Your Key Responsibilities:
* Work with families, pupils, and staff to develop personalised support plans
* Provide pastoral and emotional support to pupils across Primary and Secondary settings
* Liaise closely with external agencies, safeguarding teams, and social care when required
* Support families in accessing resources, services, and early help provision
* Monitor attendance, punctuality, and wellbeing concerns, implementing support strategies
* Deliver 1:1 sessions and small-group interventions focused on behaviour, confidence, and resilience
* Build strong relationships with parents/carers to promote engagement with the school community
* Maintain accurate records and contribute to safeguarding processes and multi-agency meetings
Requirements:
* Experience working with children, young people, and families in a pastoral or safeguarding capacity
* Strong understanding of challenges facing vulnerable pupils and families
* Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection procedures, and multi-agency working
* Excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills
* Empathetic, non-judgemental, and able to maintain professional boundaries
* Ability to work across both primary and secondary age groups
* Proactive, organised, and confident managing sensitive information
