Location Trafford Town Hall, Talbot Road, Stretford M32 0TH.
Salary range £51,356 - £54,495 pa
Working Pattern Full Time, 36.25 hours per week

As a senior member of the management team, visibility is important and there is currently a minimum of two office days per week for the service, subject to business requirements. This may differ week by week and you may be required to represent peer managers, Head of Service/Director at in-person meetings. Many of our colleagues can work from home for one or more days a week and/or they flex the hours they work. We call this SMART working, and it gives you the option to flex your days and hours so you can fit your work around your life and life around your work. As this role is part of the senior leadership team within the department there are no guarantees SMART working can always be applied.

About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Specialist Commissioning Officer to lead a team of commissioners and lead strategic commissioning for older adults’ services in Trafford. In this senior role, and as subject matter expert you will shape health and social care provision, manage budgets and partnerships, and drive service improvements that deliver real outcomes for our communities. You’ll influence market sustainability, quality assurance, and innovation, ensuring services are inclusive, effective, and value for money. About you
You’ll bring strategic leadership experience, strong and varied commissioning expertise, innovation and a collaborative approach. You must be skilled in managing complex budgets and partnerships, and confident influencing change and driving service improvements.
Your style and approach must reflect our EPIC principles: empowering others, being people-centred, inclusive, and collaborative. You’ll combine analytical thinking with excellent communication and negotiation skills, fostering relationships across health, social care, and voluntary sectors. You will be committed to continually learning and improving the way you do things to ensure effective outcomes; valuing and respecting others’ contribution, you will work to deliver services; you will take ownership of your actions and strive to getting things right first time and learn from when things do go wrong; you will enjoy taking personal responsibility to resolve issues and change what you do and how you do it to make a difference.
You’ll also be able to demonstrate experience in managing and developing staff, alongside leadership abilities, excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should also have a minimum of 2 years’ management experience within health and social care and hold a minimum degree or equivalent qualification, alongside experience in commissioning and performance management.

Additional Information
Flexibility will be required to work outside core hours on occasion.
Whilst we offer SMART working arrangements you will have flexibility in terms of hybrid working at home and in the office, but this is a senior role and therefore this will be based on the needs of the service and in person meeting requirements.
An enhanced DBS check with adults barred list check will be required.
You are not required to drive in this role but there may be occasions to attend off-site visits or meetings, and this will be your responsibility to ensure punctuality.
