Summary

We are excited to be recruiting into our Woodleaze team, in Yate, just outside of Bristol.

Woodleaze prides itself in being the only high support accommodation-based service for young people in South Gloucestershire and pioneers the way for supporting young people in the county.

We are particularly looking to recruit from within the local community of Yate, as the role involves morning starts, and public transport from surrounding areas is sometimes lacking. This highly rewarding job can be ideal for someone who wants to make a positive impact in their community; someone wanting to start their career in supported housing or using their skills and experience in a part time role.

We are hoping to recruit someone who is enthusiastic about engaging young people in activities and practical life skills.

We currently have a Weekend Housing Worker role available at 0.45 FTE. The role involves different shifts including 7am starts and 10pm finishes:
(7am – 3pm)
(2:30pm – 10pm)
(1pm – 10pm)
This would also include the occasional Friday shift.

We aim to build a more diverse workforce that reflects the young people we support, including those from migrant, refugee and asylum-seeking communities. We therefore warmly encourage applications from individuals who are currently under-represented at 1625ip, including people from ethnic minority backgrounds, Muslim and male candidates, and anyone with relevant lived experience.

If you need an adjustment to be made to any part of the recruitment process, please let us know as soon as possible.

Who are we?
We are a leading youth homelessness charity based in the Southwest, working with over 1,500 young people. At 1625ip we are driven by Social Justice and Passion: we strive to do something that matters and take pride in seeing the results of our work in social outcomes and improving young people’s lives.

How we work
At 1625ip our work is rooted in Psychologically Informed Environments (PIE) and Trauma-Informed Practice (TIP). Our Psychologically Informed Framework shapes how we build relationships, design our spaces, and support young people. This means we prioritise safety, trust, collaboration, and understanding the impact of trauma in every interaction. You don’t need prior experience in PIE or TIP to apply – we’ll support you to learn and develop these approaches in the role.

What you will be doing:

• Being confident, you will enthusiastically engage with young people to enable positive engagement and activities during the weekends.
• By being well organised, efficient, and effective, you will help our Project Workers with supporting young people.
• By being vigilant and responsible, you will ensure the security of the building when on shift.
• By being empathetic and an enthusiastic part of the team, you will support young people, your colleagues, and the team in promoting and facilitating a positive rent culture.
• Practical housing management tasks are an essential part of the role. By participating in this you will be helping to create a safe and appropriate environment for the young people we support.

You will be in Woodleaze team, and your line manager will be the Senior Reception Support Worker.

No prior experience? No problem! We believe in your potential and are committed to providing training and support to help you thrive. If you have transferrable skills and you are interested in this role, but you are worried about the application process, please get in touch with us. We encourage you to have an informal chat with the recruiting manager to discuss how your personal or professional experience and skills could be transferred to this role. Details of how you can do that are further down in this advert.
