We are looking to appoint a high-quality individual to join a rapidly expanding, busy and innovative team of consultants. As a department we have clear goals to increase our profile in Clinical and Academic Urology. The appointment of this Consultant post would supplement the workload of existing Consultants across the breadth of the specialty, including Core Urology delivered through a high-volume District General Hospital. Particular service priorities are to lead the bladder cancer service and become a key member of the prostate cancer team. The post is a locum position, initially. The current post holder is leaving his position, so this is ultimately to replace an existing colleague.
Applicants are required to be on the general GMC Register and either on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview.
The post offered is for a Consultant Urological Surgeon with 10 programmed activities. These sessions will be wherever the Trust delivers its services, but the majority of the work will be at Frimley Park Hospital.
The post holder will be expected to see new patients, primarily with haematuria and TCC of the urinary tract and in the work of men with possible prostate cancer. They will see patients and counsel them about treatment choices in dedicated clinics with the assistance of residents and CNSs. They will also see follow up outpatients whilst maintaining expected new to follow-up ratios. They will be expected to operate on patients from their own and a pooled waiting list and may be required to work at any facility that the Trust owns, leases or manages.
Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is committed to being an inclusive and disability confident employer and has been awarded the Gold for the Armed Forces Employment Recognition Scheme. We provide first class development opportunities for all staff and have a wide range of professional, management and leadership, and clinical skills training available.
Here at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, we know how important it is to have a healthy work life balance; this benefits not only individuals but the patients we care for too.
We encourage applications from people who wish to work on a flexible basis, recognising that flexibility may mean a range of different working patterns and hours, we do our utmost to work with our staff to meet their needs and the needs of our service and its users.
