Summary
We are working closely alongside with a local authority in Cardiff to assist with the appointment of a Family Support Officer on a 3-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Summary:
As a Family Support Officer, you will be the first point of contact for families, young people, and professionals seeking support within Cardiff. Working within the award-winning Cardiff Family Advice and Support service, you will provide high-quality information, advice, and assistance. Instead, your focus will be on the critical "front door" of the service: managing, coordinating, and triaging multiple referrals to ensure families are connected to the right support at the right time. This role is essential in identifying wellbeing needs and ensuring safeguarding protocols are followed.
Responsibilities:
Efficiently manage and coordinate a high volume of incoming referrals via telephone, web chat, and email.
Act as a central knowledge hub, providing accurate information about Early Help services and partner agency provisions.
Recognize signs of risk or harm; consult and liaise promptly with Social Workers and partner agencies to ensure child safety.
Maintain precise records using Microsoft Office packages and dedicated case management systems.
Partner with internal teams and external agencies to ensure a seamless "Family Gateway" experience.
Qualification:
A good standard of general education (typically GCSEs including English/Maths or equivalent experience).
Essentials:
Comprehensive working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and experience using Case Management Systems.
A solid understanding of child protection procedures and the ability to identify when an individual is at risk.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to provide clear, concise, and empathetic advice over the phone and digital platforms.
Proven experience working with children, young people, and families, with a strong understanding of their diverse needs.
Experience in using inclusive, family-centered approaches to problem-solving.
