About the Client
Cardiff Council’s Interventions Hub plays a vital role in supporting families to access the right help at the right time. The service is central to the council’s early intervention and prevention approach, ensuring families receive tiered support that reduces the need for statutory social work involvement and improves long‑term outcomes for children and young people.

The Role
The Family Support Worker will deliver direct support to children, young people, and families identified as being in need. You will work within the Interventions Hub to provide early help, strengthen parenting capacity, and promote children’s health, development, and wellbeing. This is a varied and rewarding role requiring flexibility, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team.

Key Responsibilities
Provide early intervention support to families to prevent escalation to statutory services.

Deliver structured support that enhances parenting capacity and promotes positive outcomes for children and young people.

Work with families in their homes, community settings, and within the Interventions Hub.

Support parents to build resilience, develop problem‑solving skills, and improve family functioning.

Maintain accurate records and contribute to assessments, plans, and reviews.

Work collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies to ensure coordinated support.

Manage a varied caseload and respond flexibly to family needs.

Promote children’s health, safety, and development through strengths‑based practice.

Candidate Requirements
Experience working with children, young people, and families.

Commitment to improving outcomes and supporting families to build capacity and resilience.

Self‑motivated, well‑organised, and able to work independently and within a team.

Flexible approach to working hours and service needs.

Full valid driving licence and sole use of a vehicle (essential).

Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
