Crynodeb

To be considered for this role you will need to have demonstrable agile project or delivery management experience, preferably in the recruitment field.

Oriel is the national platform used to deliver recruitment to Medical, Dental, Pharmacy and Healthcare Science training programmes across the UK.

The current service supports the digital tools and associated processes connected to the recruitment onto training programmes of several professions. This is recognised as a critical service due to its role in supporting the future NHS workforce.

The team have recently completed a Discovery and Alpha as they prepare to deliver a new national recruitment service over the next two to three years.

Please be aware that should you be successful in this position, you will be hired to the job title of National Specialty Recruitment & Oriel Senior Manager, and this job title is advertised to attract the right skills needed for the role.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

The post-holder will lead delivery of the live service ensuring ensuring continuous service provision in national recruitment including ‘business as usual’ activity as well as implementation of business critical changes associated with the introduction of new policy.

In addition to this, the post-holder will support the transition to a new service and will contribute to the next phase of this work including procurement activity and progressing to Beta stage and beyond.

The post-holder will lead the service team to ensure that there is a clear direction for values, strategies and policies. The post-holder will work with stakeholders, users and third party organisations to translate complex objectives into clear requirements to support service design, delivery and maintenance.

Our work supports the NHS to deliver high quality services for patients and best value for taxpayers.

Our staff bring expertise across hundreds of specialisms — including clinical, operational, commissioning, technology, data science, cyber security, software engineering, education, and commercial — enabling us to design and deliver high-quality NHS services.

We lead the NHS in England by:
• Enabling local systems and providers to improve the health of their people and patients and reduce health inequalities
• Making the NHS a great place to work, where our people can make a difference and achieve their potential
• Working collaboratively to ensure our healthcare workforce has the right knowledge, skills, values and behaviours to deliver accessible, compassionate care
• Optimising the use of digital technology, research, and innovation
• Delivering value for money

Earlier this year, the Government announced that NHS England will gradually merge with the Department of Health and Social Care, leading to full integration. The aim is to create a smaller, more strategic centre that reduces duplication and eliminates waste.

If successful at interview, we will initiate an Inter Authority Transfer (IAT) via the Electronic Staff Record (ESR). This retrieves key data from your current or previous NHS employer to support onboarding, including competency status, Continuous Service Dates (CSD), and annual leave entitlement. You may opt out at any stage of the recruitment process.

As the Oriel Senior Manager, you will drive the delivery and development of the service;
• You will lead the team responsible for the live service
• You will identify opportunities to improve the service and take confident decisions at a strategic level to move ideas forward
• You will be confident in working with end-users to identify business needs in the form of user stories and, in turn, work with the development team to iteratively achieve high quality outcome that are user-centred
• You will use your knowledge of user-centred design and the GDS Service Standard to drive transformation and improve products and services
• You will build and manage effective relationships with stakeholders, users and third party organisations
• You will need to confidently manage a wide range of stakeholder expectations both internally and externally, often with complex and conflicting requirements
• You will provide expertise to stakeholders and associated workstreams
• You will support with complex issue resolution where necessary
• You will be involved with managing contracts, monitoring budget, measuring against KPI’s and holding supplier(s) to account for delivery

Please note that the reason for the fixed term of this contract is due to covering a vacancy.

You can find further details about the role, including key responsibilities and accountabilities, alongside the organisational structure and person specification in the attached Job Description and other supporting documents.
Secondments

Applicants from within the NHS will be offered on a secondment basis only, agreement should be obtained from their employer prior to submitting the application.
