The role:
• Set the IMS strategy and lead its implementation with the IMS Team.
• Define and agree IMS objectives with Group and Operating Company (OpCo) Boards, monitor progress, and report regularly.
• Develop new and improve existing business processes to comply with the certification requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001, and ISO 45001.
• Manage and attend external ISO audits, to support successful outcomes.
• Lead the internal audit team and annual audit schedule, including conducting audits, training internal auditors, and maintaining auditing tools and resources.
• Oversee production of EQSMS, H&S papers and annual reports for OpCo Boards review and Group Board approval.
• Disseminate information and raise awareness of IMS processes and resources across the organisation.
• Manage and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our IMS, its tools and processes.
• Maintain and update the JBA Group Business Continuity Plan, manage regular tests, and maintain a business disruption reporting process.
This role could be based out of any of our UK offices, but regular travel to our Head Office in Skipton, North Yorkshire, BD23 3FD will be required.
The team member we are looking for:
We are looking for an experienced Head of IMS to lead the strategic development and delivery of our IMS across the JBA Group. You will act as the key link between the IMS Team and Group/OpCo Boards. You will report to a Company Director, and you will have line management responsibility for the IMS Team, and our Group Quality Manager, Group Sustainability Manager and Group Health and Safety Advisor.
You will provide clear leadership and strategic direction, leveraging the strengths of these experts to drive compliance, efficiency, and continuous improvement, with the vision to leverage opportunities for digital transformation to improve efficiency and accuracy, while maintaining compliance and quality standards.
A Degree-level education or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline is required. Professional certifications in management systems or auditing (e.g., ISO Lead Auditor) are desirable.
Essential attributes for the role:
• Proven experience in managing integrated management systems at a senior level.
• Effective communication and presentation skills combined with strong, decisive leadership and team management skills.
• Collaborative leadership with the ability to influence and engage at Board level.
• In-depth knowledge of ISO standards (9001, 14001, 27001, 45001).
• Appreciation of automation technologies and their application in streamlining compliance, reporting, and auditing processes.
• Ability to identify opportunities for digital transformation within IMS to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Analytical and strategic thinker with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of our legal obligations to maintain our high ethical standards and protect our reputation.
Desirable attributes for the role:
• Experience in external ISO audits and internal auditor training and development.
• Familiarity with business continuity planning and testing.
• Experience in multi-site or group structures.
• Knowledge of sustainability and Net Zero strategies.
• Knowledge of AI-driven tools for data analysis, predictive risk management, and process optimisation.
