We are looking to recruit a Ward Secretary to support the wards at Rampton Hospital.
You will support the Ward Managers and senior nursing team under the direction of the Hospital Admin Managers.
The person we have in mind for this position must demonstrate an ability to provide a high quality and comprehensive administrative/secretarial service. They must be creative, capable of meeting tight deadlines and have the ability to use their own initiative. The post holder will have a good general education (3 x GCSE's 9-4 or A-C or equivalent (including English Language) along with RSA II typewriting (or equivalent experience) and also knowledge of modern IT packages i.e. Microsoft Office applications (eg; Word, Excel & Outlook). An excellent telephone manner is required with the ability to maintain the strictest confidentiality at all time.
To work as part of a team providing secretarial and administrative support for the Ward Manager.
Responsible for all aspects of secretarial and administrative support for the Ward Manager
Under the direction of the Ward Manager working closely with ward staff to assist in the provision of efficient high quality ward services.

Essential
3 GCSE’s or equivalent including English Language Grade C/4 or above
RSA II Typing/Word Processing (or equivalent)
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Experience of working in and as part of a team
Understanding of various filing systems
Conversant with e-mail systems
Experience of arranging meetings and taking minutes
Maintaining electronic diaries
IT Literate with specific skills in word processing
Familiar with Microsoft office applications ie Excel and Access
Good organisation skills
Ability to work under pressure
Excellent telephone manner
Good attention to detail
Willingness to undertake Breakaway Techniques training and all appropriate training courses
Awareness of diversity and E&D opportunity issues
Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team

Audio Typing qualification
NVQ level 3 in Business Admin
Experience of working in a busy office environment
Ability to work flexibly and the ability to develop working partnership with multi-disciplinary team.
Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.
You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.
Please note that this post does not meet the pay level required for a Skilled worker visa.
Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change.
