Summary
Key tasks: 1. Research e-bike opportunities DPT leasing or purchasing. Individual companies renting space on sites. Maintenance of the e-bikes and chargers. Storage (independent to DPT or how accommodate companies) Policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for both possibilities. Fire safety and legal responsibilities. Costs to rent/procure plus cost and emission savings (cost may be from mileage rates, parking, decrease in parking fines). Research on what other NHS sites are doing but could also consider other government organisation such as university, councils and met office. Could attend meetings such as Exeter transport group (CUA). E-bikes proposal got declined in 2024 based on health and safety and fire risks. Would be great opportunity to encourage in certain areas like Exeter/Torbay and Bristol to reduce grey fleet mileage emissions. Also worth noting the health benefits to staff e.g. less stress, ease of parking, reduced parking costs. 2. Plan to electrify fleet. Review other organisations and how/what they have procured via approved routes taking into consideration the mileage range required. Analyse current data from vehicle being tested (electric ford transit). Data research is similar parameters to E-bike above. Work with procurement to understand opportunities. Compare with other organisations. Look at travel data to understand requirements. Ideally want to enable fleets to charge overnight (unless on call). Location of electric vehicle charging points (EVCPs) externally.
