Summary

Temporary Secondary English Teacher | Key Stage 3 & 4

Are you a highly motivated and qualified Secondary English Teacher seeking a rewarding, fixed-term opportunity? We are looking for an exceptional practitioner to join our successful and forward-thinking secondary school. This full-time, temporary post is ideal for a dedicated professional ready to take ownership of their own classes and contribute fully to the departmental success within Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4).

The Role

The core focus of this position is to plan, deliver, and assess high-quality, engaging English Language and Literature lessons. You will be responsible for a full timetable of classes, ensuring exceptional progress and positive outcomes for all students aged 11-16. You will be expected to use formative and summative assessment strategies to effectively guide student learning and prepare pupils for GCSE excellence.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic educator who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree in English or a closely related field.

  • Possesses recent, demonstrable experience teaching English at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

  • Exhibits excellent classroom management and organisational skills.

  • Is passionate about literacy, literature, and communication, and is committed to raising student attainment.

  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of the National Curriculum requirements.

  • Is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils.

Key Responsibilities

You will take full responsibility for the learning and achievement of all pupils in your classes, including:

  • Planning, preparation, and detailed marking.

  • Contributing to the development of schemes of work.

  • Assessing student progress and providing timely feedback.

  • Undertaking a form tutor role.

  • Actively participating in whole-school life and training.
