This vacancy is Open only to applicants from Hampshire & Isle of Wight NHS system, which is limited to Hampshire and Isle of Wight ICB, Southern Health FT, Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, Isle of Wight NHS Trust, University Hospital Southampton FT, Solent NHS Trust, South Central Ambulance Service or Hampshire Hospitals FT.

We are looking for an Emergency Care Administrator to join out busy team within the Emergency Care Unit here at University Hospital Southampton. This role is based primarily in the Emergency Department which operates shifts across a 24 hour period including days, evening, weekends, nights and bank holidays for which unsocial hours payments will be made.

This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth running of the department and you will report to the Emergency Department Admin Manager and Deputy Admin Managers who are on hand to offer support. You will need to have good communication and organisational skills, a strong team work ethic and demonstrate a clear understanding of confidentiality issues. A flexible approach to working routines is essential in this role due to the 24/7 operational requirements of the Emergency Department.

As an Emergency Care Administrator within this department you will gain experience of working in a very busy, fast moving environment and you must be able to cover shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends and bank holidays. The role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth running of the department and you will be required to:

- Welcome patients and visitors to the Emergency Department, answer appropriate questions and provide relevant information in a sensitive manner.
- Undertake Emergency Department reception and administrative duties as required that will contribute to the effective and efficient running of the department.
- Have the ability to remain calm and professional in what can sometimes be a very challenging environment.
- Provide cover for the AMU admin team when necessary.
- Communicate effectively with members of the clinical and admin team within the department and wider Trust.
