Summary


This is an exciting opportunity to be involved with the hearing screening of newborn babies within Harrow, Ealing & Brent.

The post is full time, this will involve working weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis, the hours to be worked flexibly within the team to cover 7 days. The team is based at Northwick Park Hospital. A driving license is essential as you will also be required to covers clinics in Ealing and Brent.

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who is organized and methodical to join our 'family-friendly' and dedicated Newborn Hearing Screening team based at Northwick Park Hospital, Harrow. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as good computer skills are required. Experience of working in a hospital environment and baby handling skills are desirable.

You will be required to perform the hearing screen, record and collect data and liaise with parents and professionals.

We are looking for someone who has previous Newborn Hearing Screening experience, who has successfully completed their training.
OR
Someone who is interested in training as a Newborn Hearing Screener and who has a good standard of education with a minimum of GCSE Maths and English or equivalent. You must be prepared to complete a Level 3 Diploma for Health Screeners which is a recognised qualification whilst completing in service training, this includes the NHSP eLearning modules and an external competency assessment (ECA). You will need to commit to remaining within the post for at least two years after you have completed the diploma.

To ensure all parents of eligible babies are offered the screen in a timely fashion and that the screen is carried out according to the national and local standards.

To maintain effective communication with parents, maternity staff, audiology team and other relevant staff and professionals.

To ensure accurate recording and archiving of results and outcome on S4H.

Adherence to protocols and policies around equipment regulations and IT systems as specified by National programme
