The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and skilled teacher to join the close-knit team of English teachers at Bohunt Farnborough. At our school, literacy is held in the highest regard: it is the foundation of success across every subject, and central to our mission of developing confident, articulate, and resilient learners. We see English not only as a subject, but as the gateway to academic achievement and personal growth.

We are keen to appoint the very best teacher for our students, and therefore you will need to demonstrate a love of language and literature, a passion for reading, and a commitment to ensuring that every child can access and enjoy the power of words. The Head of Department is passionate about their subject and is looking for someone who can deliver engaging, enjoyable, and challenging lessons that inspire rapid progress. Teachers who are passionate about English motivate students—so you will need to show genuine enthusiasm, and a determination to engage all learners.

In addition, this role offers excellent opportunities for professional growth. We actively encourage colleagues to take on extra responsibilities, contribute to whole-school literacy initiatives, and step into middle leadership positions as part of their career development. You will be joining a school where ambition is matched by support, and where your impact can extend well beyond the classroom.

The Candidate

You will:

• have a passion for English which is evident in your teaching
• demonstrate the ability to consistently deliver inspirational learning experiences for students
• have an understanding of how to promote effective and inclusive teaching and learning
• be able to evidence success in raising student achievement across a broad range of abilities through successful assessment, monitoring and evaluation of student progress, and the range of strategies that could be used to address underachievement
• possess good communication skills with students, colleagues and parents
• demonstrate a strong desire to undertake Continuing Professional Development to inform teaching

We would welcome an application from you if you feel that you are the dynamic and passionate teacher we’re looking for. School tours or telephone conversations with the Headteacher are welcomed on request.
