Summary

This Cambridge based organisation runs international residential summer study programs for students aged 14–18.

As Welfare Director, you will play a key leadership role within the senior team, overseeing the welfare, pastoral care, and wellbeing of students throughout the summer programs. You will work closely with the Program Director, other senior staff, supervisors and external partners such as parents and medical professionals to ensure students feel safe, supported, and well‑cared‑for at all times.

Program Dates – Summer 2026 (Cambridge residency required):

Friday 3rd July – Saturday 18th July 2026
Friday 17th July – Saturday 1st August 2026
Friday 24th July – Saturday 8th August 2026
Friday 31st July – Saturday 15th August 2026
Note: Compulsory Induction Training is included during the first Friday and Saturday of your program. Applicants may apply for one, two, or all programs.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain an overview of all students’ welfare and medical needs throughout the programs.

Lead and support the welfare team, ensuring effective and calm operations.

Ensure all safeguarding policies and welfare procedures are followed by staff and implemented consistently.

Communicate regularly with the Program Director, staff, parents, medical professionals, and external parties.

Uphold and promote organisational values, welfare standards, and procedures.

Undertake additional duties as requested by senior leadership

Previous experience working in a residential setting (Highly Desirable)

Experience working with young people (Essential)

Experience in a pastoral or mentoring role (Essential)

Knowledge of Cambridge city, colleges, and history (Desirable)

Rate:

From £700/week based on experience + half-board accommodation.
Paid training takes place on the first Friday and Saturday.
For safeguarding purposes, an Enhanced DBS check is required for all staff and if living overseas a valid police clearance certificate is additionally required. Two professional references will also be required for all staff.
