We are looking for a passionate and committed Young People’s Voice Officer to join our Children and young peoples Service in Calderdale. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by ensuring that the voices of children and young people are heard, valued, and acted upon in shaping services and decisions that affect their lives.
You will work closely with young people, families, and professionals to champion participation and engagement across the borough. Your role will be central to developing creative and inclusive ways for young people to influence policy, practice, and service delivery.
The minimum age for this role is 18 years.
This requirement is in place because the Youth Voice Worker is responsible for supporting and engaging with young people up to the age of 18. Being at least 18 ensures:
• Safeguarding compliance – The role involves lone working closely with minors, so the postholder must meet legal and organizational safeguarding standards.
• Professional boundaries – An adult status helps maintain appropriate boundaries and authority when working with young people.
• Legal responsibilities – Certain duties, such as designated safeguarding lead, handling confidential information, and representing the organisation in formal settings, require the individual to be legally recognised as an adult

Key Responsibilities
• Develop and deliver innovative engagement activities that empower young people to share their views and experiences.
• Facilitate youth forums, advisory groups, and consultation events to ensure meaningful participation.
• Work collaboratively with partners to embed young people’s voices in service planning and improvement.
• Build strong relationships with schools, community organisations, and partner agencies to promote youth involvement.
• Ensure feedback from young people informs decision-making and is communicated effectively.

About You
We are looking for someone who:
• Is passionate about youth voice and participation.
• Has an NVQ Level 3 in Youth Work or equivalent or demonstrable experience in a similar environment
• Has experience working with children and young people in a community or safeguarding context.
• Can communicate effectively and creatively with diverse groups of young people.
• Is skilled in partnership working and building positive relationships.
