Summary
Supporting the ambitions and working with partners, it provides a range of support services; including:
• supporting technical and financial feasibility requirements for strategic event hosting targets
• support business case processes through DCMS
• support (and in some cases lead on) bidding activity, including the development of event staging budgets, impact and benefit assessments; international relations campaigns and host city selection processes,
• and; if successfully secured for the UK; oversee the management, distribution and assurance of funding to support mega event delivery.
The team works alongside UK Sports wider major events team, DCMS’s Major Sporting Events Department, the Devolved Administrations, National Governing Bodies and Host City Partners and is entering an exciting period of planning.
We are looking to recruit an experienced Project Manager to support the growth and delivery of the UK’s mega event programme.
This role will lead on providing high quality support across the mega event programme, including tracking cross-workstream activity, managing all reporting requirements and ensuring that programme/project milestones are on track. The role will coordinate with the wider Major Events team to ensure consistency of project management and will be expected to support with special projects, including industry research and insights projects.
As part of the Events Team, you will also contribute to discussions on Mega Event Hosting Targets – including staging advice, governance and assurance. You may also be required to manage projects for the broader activity of the Team.
The work undertaken is wide-ranging, interesting, fast-paced and evolves throughout the mega event lifecycle but will always maintain a focus on producing high quality outputs and being agile to the needs of the partners.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Management
The role will provide project management expertise across a number of key programmes and projects. Diligently mapping timelines and coordinating work programmes to ensure milestones are met. This will involve reporting to the Team, Mega Event Lead and Head of Major Events.
We expect proactive project management, offering recommendations and resolutions to any issues. Leading elements of team activity as well as providing a secretariat function as required.
The role will also support the management of the mega event team budget, and all internal / external reporting requirements.
System Support
Maintain an extensive network of working-level contacts to ensure effective partnership working across all programme workstreams, working closely with the wider major events team to ensure effective and consistent systems, processes and reporting across the department. This includes support on the delivery of the Knowledge Transfer Programme and stakeholder engagement.
Other areas
Whilst focusing predominantly on providing project management support for the mega event programme, the role will also include the opportunity to support (and sometimes lead) on special projects, including technical bid/feasibility workstreams, impact measurement, research and insight.

Essential
• Experience of developing and maintaining effective programme and project management systems, processes and reporting tools
• Budget management experience
