Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, reliable and skilled Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work 1:1 with a pupil who has significant physical and medical needs. This is a rewarding role requiring someone who is calm, confident, and committed to supporting a child to access all aspects of school life.The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO and external professionals to ensure the pupil’s safety, dignity, wellbeing and inclusion.Key Responsibilities Provide individualised support to enable the pupil to access learning and participate fully in school life. Deliver intimate care, including toileting and personal hygiene, always maintaining the pupil’s dignity and comfort. Assist with medical and health-related tasks, following training and adhering to school policies and care plans. Carry out safe moving and handling, including using specialist equipment (training provided). Monitor and respond to the pupil’s wellbeing and alert the appropriate staff to any concerns. Support with communication, engagement and curriculum tasks as directed by the teaching team. Work effectively with parents/carers, staff and professionals to ensure consistency and high-quality support. Maintain accurate records as required.Person SpecificationEssential NVQ qualification A commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality and supporting the dignity of the pupil. Physically able to carry out moving and handling tasks safely and confidently (training provided). Fit, healthy and able to meet the physical demands of the role. Willingness to undertake intimate care and provide medical support after training. Kind, patient, proactive and able to build a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil. Ability to follow detailed instructions and care plans precisely. Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team. Reliable, professional and able to uphold high standards at all times.DesirableExperience working with children with physical disabilities or complex needs.Knowledge of SEND practices in a primary school setting.
