Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

• Qualified Teacher Status at first degree level or equivalent.

• Senior leadership experience in a primary school (preferably a CE school) at headteacher or deputy headteacher level.

• Experience of working with relevant IT systems, including those designed to support teaching and learning, strategic planning, school financial management and high-quality communication.

• Commitment to the ethos and values of a Church of England primary school and to further developing links with the parishes that the school serves.

• The ability to communicate a clear Christian and Bilingual development of the school.

• The ability to lead, motivate and inspire others, and to support colleagues in their work as individuals and as part of a team.

• The ability to plan and manage the school's financial and other resources so as to promote the achievement of its strategic objectives.

• The ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally in a range of situations.

• Knowledge and understanding of national and local education issues that are relevant to the school's leadership.

• A commitment to personal continuing professional development.

• An understanding of how children learn most effectively in school settings.

• An understanding of the characteristics of effective classroom practice and curriculum design, and of how teachers and teaching assistants can best be helped to further improve their work

• An understanding of how to promote high expectations for the achievement of all the children, and of how to instill in staff a strong sense of accountability for the impact of their work on children's achievements.

• An understanding of how a workplace ethos of loyalty, trust and mutual respect can be maintained and further developed across the school.

• An understanding of what constitutes effective succession planning, achieved by identifying emerging talents amongst the staff and by coaching current and aspiring leaders.

• An understanding of how rigorous performance management systems can be used positively to promote excellence both in the quality of teaching and in the standards achieved by the children.

• An understanding of how a safe, calm and well-ordered environment can be ensured for all children and staff, focused on safeguarding and promoting high standards of behaviour both in school and in the wider community.

• An understanding of the characteristics of strong and effective school governance, and of what the headteacher can best do to supporting the Governing Body in understanding its role and delivering its functions effectively.

• An understanding of what constitutes effective strategic financial planning aimed at ensuring the equitable deployment of budgets and resources in the best interests of children's achievements and the school's sustainability.

• An understanding of how to manage distribute leadership at all levels throughout the school, ensuring that all members of staff have distinct roles and responsibilities, as appropriate, and are able to hold each other to account.

• A commitment to maintaining and further developing a whole-school culture of reflective practice and continuous improvement.

• The ability to provide dynamic and imaginative leadership for strategic school improvement planning, ensuring the involvement of all stakeholders in the process.

• The ability to identify and evaluate data critical to the assessment of the school's performance and to take appropriate action based on the findings, in the best interests of the school.

• The ability to plan, prioritise and delegate responsibilities according to the school's day to day and longer term needs.

• The ability to monitor and evaluate the effects of management actions at all levels, and to ensure clear and constructive feedback to stakeholders on their effectiveness.

• An understanding of the importance of high quality continuing professional development for the whole staff.

• A readiness to develop positive professional relationships with fellow professionals and colleagues in other schools and in other public services in order to secure the best outcomes for the children.
