JOB Title and SoC Code: Religious Workers (Non-Pastoral role) SoC Code: 3229
Details of duties: -
The Religious Worker is required to support existing team of Senior Priests and Management, must be of a special linage that undertakes specific duties in support of Senior Priests (Minister of Religion) and religious activities of Shri Guru Ravidass Temple and must follow the methods of worship.
The role will involve performing religious duties to support the activities of religious institutions by conducting Non-Pastoral work for a Religious Organisation.
The religious duties will not include work that falls under the role of Minister of Religion, which means the applicant will not have core duties of leading a congregation in performing the rites and rituals of the faith and in preaching the essential of the creed.
The successful individual will have in-depth knowledge of Religious Ceremonies of Shri Guru Ravidass Sabha and must have a good background / proven experience in undertaking following duties:
1. To recite or Parkash of Shri Guru Granth Sahib, reading Japaji Sahib daily in the morning.
2. To prepare and cook of holy Prashad, made of Semolina with Sugar & Ghee daily.
3. To perform the Kirtan when required at religious events or functions and to read the Order of the Day Hukam-Nama as and when required.
4. To assist the priest in reading from Granth Sahib for the marriage ceremony.
5. To assist the priest with Specific prayer readings and final prayers or discourses related to the sad occasion of funerals.
6. Reh Ras Path: - To assist Priest in evening readings and end of the day prayer - Final Ardass.
7. Sukh-Assan – Implementation of closing instructions of the Temple.
8. General housekeeping of Prayer Hall, Main Entrance, Stage, and Seat of Guru Granth Sahib (Palki) and equipment, maintaining all surrounding areas tidy and in good condition in line with health and safety at place of work and worship.
9. Maintain mikes, harmonium, tabla, other musical equipment in good order all the time.
10. You must abide by rules and regulations of this charity to follow instructions of Management.
Salary: - The applicant will be paid £12.21 per hour, the UK National Minimum Wage. Working Time shall be Part-time (less than 30 Hours per week).
Details of the Skills, Experience, and Qualification required for the post: -
1. Applicant must be of good character to perform duties in line with Teachings & Philosophy of Shri Guru Ravidass Ji for the advancement of Ravidassia Religion by order of Management.
2. Applicant must have full knowledge of Shri Guru Granth Sahib and possess historical events on Teachings, Mission & Philosophy of Shri Guru Ravidass Ji and other Gurus.
3. Applicant must be fluent reader, writer and speaker of Punjabi Language to explain Holy scriptures to congregation in Prayer Hall in the Temple, Hindi and English Language is beneficial.
4. Applicant must have one year experience that is compulsory, two years or more is beneficial.
