This is a leadership role within the South East integrated Delivery Team, you will work closely with the Project Managers working on Ventnor as well as the Project Sponsor, Senior User and Delivery Partners.
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversight of the projects team ensuring roles and responsibilities as well as resource needs are clearly understood
- Providing technical expertise to support the team and embed best practice project management principles in change control, risk management and project governance.
- Ensuring the project sponsor has confidence in delivery and a clear understanding of risks, issues and opportunities.
- Ensuring appropriate escalation routes are followed for the resolution of critical issues.
- Enabling collaboration across our internal teams and delivery partners to ensure effective delivery
An ability and willingness to adapt and respond to the project's changing needs is essential.
This is a rare opportunity to take a leading role in managing a multi-million pound Major Project of regional significance. The project will increase the level of flood risk protection to homes and businesses in coastal areas of Ventnor, as well as be a stimulus for the local economy which is vital to the wider Isle of Wight as well.
Everyone that joins us is required to undertake training and participate in incident response duties when the need to respond arises Having an incident role is an essential part of working for the Environment Agency and an active way to support communities and prevent harm to the environment. Our team is at the heart of integrated project and programme delivery. We collaboratively deliver asset management projects throughout their lifecycle to reduce flood risk, deliver environmental improvements and reduce carbon, resulting in added value and a greater sense of shared ownership with local communities."
Experience/skills required
"You’ll have a degree in engineering, project management or an environmental related discipline with a project management qualification
As an experienced leader, you’ll have a proven record of successfully delivering complex projects or programmes in collaboration with others; harnessing their skills, promoting innovation and driving improved performance.
You’ll have extensive experience managing different stakeholders, operating across all levels of an organisation, demonstrating strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills.
Skills, knowledge and experience in the following areas is essential:
• Leading multi-disciplinary teams to deliver results on large, technically challenging projects.
• strong understanding of government project delivery, business case requirements and funding rules.
• Working collaboratively with senior users and delivery partners to identify, agree and implement innovative solutions.
• The importance of Health, Safety, Environment and Wellbeing in project delivery
• Project governance.
• Contract management.
