Are you an empathetic and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding 1:1 support role? We are seeking a full-time, temporary Teaching Assistant to provide focused, individual support to a specific child within our welcoming primary school environment. This is a unique opportunity to make a profound and immediate impact on a pupil's learning journey and well-being.

The Role

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Plymouth

Job Type: Full Time - Temp to Perm role

Start Date: Immediate

The core focus of this position is to support one child across all areas of the primary curriculum. You will be responsible for implementing the child's Individual Education Plan (IEP) or Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan, adapting activities as necessary, and assisting in the management of any specific learning, communication, or emotional needs. You will work closely with the class teacher and the school's Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to track progress, foster independence, and ensure the child is fully included in school life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering effective lessons
  • Foster a positive and engaging learning environment
  • Provide individual support to facilitate student learning
  • Monitor student progress and report the findings to the teacher and parents.
  • Adhere to the school's policies and procedures.

  • Previous experience handling special needs children
  • Driving on own to the school is an advantage
  • Proven professional references with clean records
