Toolmaker | Kent | Full Time | £35,360 – £47,840 per annum (£17–£23 per hour) depending on experience

Our client is a leading expert in the manufacture of components using high-speed press technology. They’re dedicated to providing their clients with precision pressings as Europe’s leading spring manufacturer and supplier, and their products are used in major industrial environments all over the world. They are looking for a skilled Toolmaker, Bench Fitter, or Machinist (Mill/Lathe) to build, maintain, and repair progressive press tools used in high-volume stamping operations. This role suits someone with strong precision machining skills, excellent understanding of 2D and 3D layouts, and hands-on experience with complex production tooling.

Are you the right person for the job?

You will thrive in this role if you have:

• Ideally, 5 years of hands-on experience in a relevant field
• Background as a Toolmaker, Bench Fitter, Machinist (mill/lathe/precision grinder CNC/manual), Wire EDM operator, or similar
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting 2D and 3D data (Solidworks experience would be ideal)
• Ability to hit the ground running
• Strong attention to detail and reliability
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team

What will your role look like?

• Manufacture, assemble, and refurbish progression press tools and related tooling to tight tolerances
• Diagnose tool failures and carry out timely repairs to minimise downtime
• Perform tool fitting, die sharpening, grinding, and bench work to high standards
• Collaborate with press operators, engineers, and the design team to optimise tool performance and part quality
• Working with machining equipment, precision grinders, mills and lathes and other relevant tools
• Following technical drawings and specifications accurately
• Maintaining equipment and performing quality checks
• Supporting other team members when required
• Adhering to all health and safety procedures
