The Governing Body at Ysgol Maesglas are looking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic and motivated caretaker.
The successful candidate will be able to manage the day to day running of the school site, including some repairs and maintenance. We would love to hear from you if you are an experienced caretaker or ex-tradesperson. DIY skills are desirable, as is the ability to prioritise and manage your own workload.

The main duties would be: • Opening and securing the school sites at agreed times. • Acting as a main key holder and responding to emergencies. • Monitoring heating, lighting and water systems, checking meters, and ensuring plant rooms are safe and well maintained. • Maintaining the tidiness and general presentation of the school buildings and surrounding areas. • Undertaking routine maintenance, minor repairs and basic DIY tasks, within your level of competency, as agreed with the Headteacher. • Maintaining clear, safe access routes around the school, especially during adverse weather. • Supporting contractors on site and reporting any concerns to the Headteacher. • Keeping basic records such as checks, logs and health and safety documentation.
The successful candidate will: • Be reliable, flexible and capable of working independently. • Have good practical skills for maintenance, basic repairs and general caretaking tasks. • Take pride in keeping the school safe, clean and welcoming. • Demonstrate good organisational skills and attention to detail. • Be confident in following health and safety procedures. • Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with staff, contractors and the wider school community.
